Sisters Hope
Sisters Hope works with interactive and immersive performance art in the intersection between art, activism, research, and education. They are rooted in interdisciplinary practices, and they manifest their work in theaters, art museums, public spaces, and as interventions in societal institutions such as schools and city halls. The Danish foundation Bikuben has awarded Sisters Academy with the Visionary Award. Their format Sensuous City has been rated by the Danish newspaper Politiken as one of Denmark's 5 most significant performances. The performance Sensuous Governing was complimented as "a masterclass in reality-bending theatre" by The Scotsman at Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Sisters Hope creates large-scale performative universes that audiences can inhabit (often for a minimum of 24 hours). Sisters Hope operates with a high degree of audience participation, which they have conceptualized as ‘Inhabitation’. From a traditional perception of the audience as ‘spectators’ over a focus on the audience as ‘participants’, they embark on the next level of audience engagement, where they work with the audience as ‘inhabitants’ of the sensuous universes they create.
