We are a theatre company based in Denmark. We have worked and co-produced with Greenlandic producers and artists for 15 years.
At Theatre FreezeProductions, we transform ideas into practice through both writing and devising. Our recent projects are co-produced with Naleraq Lights in Nuuk, Greenland, and we focus on highlighting Greenlandic narratives. All writing, music, scenography, film, and lighting are created by Greenlandic artists. We are proud to receive support from both Danish and Greenlandic funding sources.
Current touring repertoire
We are excited to present two youth performances that are readily available for touring, suitable for audiences aged 15 and up.
Our newest production, Let’s Talk About It // Marlukasiulluta, is written by the award-winning young Greenlandic actress Aviana Steinbacher. This performance tackles themes relevant to both Greenlandic and global youth, including love, sex, consent, and the importance of open dialogue. The scenography incorporates film sequences featuring traditional Greenlandic tattoo patterns, while electronic compositions enhance the overall experience, blending movement and text. Through Let’s Talk About It we highlight artists from Greenland, who offer a global perspective on navigating the world of love, consent, and joy.
Our Stories // Oqaluttuaatigut explores the transgenerational gaps and traumas experienced in Greenland as a result of Danish colonization, while also delving into the quest for personal identity. This engaging play features a vibrant mix of Greenlandic rap, heartfelt dialogues, and music, all set against a scenography that connects the past with the present and future. Our Stories is grounded in interviews with both young and older Inuit, providing a rich tapestry of voices that resonate with the complexities of Greenlandic life.
Both performances are available in Greenlandic, Danish, and English, making them accessible to a wide audience as they tour both locally and internationally.
