Jernej Bizjak
Jernej Bizjak is a Slovene choreographer and producer based in Denmark. In 2022, he received a working grant from the Danish Arts Foundation with a focus on the environment of contemporary dance productions for children and youth. In 2023, he created the project for young audiences UP-AND-DOWN-AND-UP- A work-formance that will make you jump for joy!
The project researches the relationship between the body and emotions, focusing on social perception of individual as well as collective happiness and how they physically manifest in the body.
A white bouncy castle that unfolds in front of us becomes a collective space for joy and happiness. The original format work-formance starts with a movement workshop and continues into a performance, whereas youngsters become protagonists of movement action.
UP-AND-DOWN-AND-UP- anticipates a long-standing postproduction, engaging with cultural institutions worldwide. Beneficial to the project is the recruitment of local performers in various countries (for now in Slovenia, Denmark, Sweden), who are sharing the same set-design and costumes, embracing green policies within the arts.
The project is seeking new international partners from 2025 on.
