Julienne Doko Dance

Julienne Doko Dance is a company led by Julienne Doko, a French dancer, teacher, choreographer and curator with roots in the Central African Republic, based in Denmark.

Her works are engaging and tackle topics such as motherhood, the relationship to one’s body, historical legacy. They are characterized by a powerful and versatile physical expression and often feature live music, visual art or poetry.

Julienne Doko Dance is looking for touring opportunities, co-productions and residencies.

 

Touring works

W.O.M.B. (WORTH OF MY BODY) — 2022: a tribute to the life-giving female body and an encouragement for women to challenge cultural judgments of pregnancy-induced body changes.

JOURNEYS: co-produced by Dansehallerne — 2023: a multidisciplinary choreographic exhibition curated and performed by Doko, inviting 5 local Pan-African artists to reflect on the perception of the Black body.

MÉMOIRES PERDUES (Lost Memories) — 2019:  A solo that questions the notions of collective memory and progress: Do we really learn from the lessons of the past?
